El Mercado Sonora is an underground market in Mexico City dedicated to the sale of items for Santería, Yoruba, and related rituals. It is a lively place in contact with both the spiritual and the extremely carnal, where tradition is revered but also questioned and reinterpreted by the younger generations. It is a place built by people who are aware of their own mortality and difficulties, who embrace each other's vitality with love.
